Snow news is good news!

Snow news is good news! Snow depth at many resorts is still pretty awesome; 63” at Alpine Meadows, 50” at Boreal, 66” at Heavenly, 88” at Kirkwood, 64” at Northstar, 76” at Sierra-At-Tahoe, and 72” at Squaw Valley; some of  the best depth we’ve seen all season! But you better hit the slopes before it melts. Temperatures are below freezing at night, but up to 55 degrees F during the day.

Also, get ready for our “End-of-Season Sale” April 12th and 13th. We need to clear some of the shelves to make room for next season’s equipment, so this is your opportunity to purchase some great equipment at some very reasonable prices!  You owe it to yourself to at least come by and take a look!  We will be servingcomplimentary hot dogs and sodas, too (including vegetarian and kosher), and Nuki, our Siberian husky mascot will be there to help pass out balloons to the kids.  You don’t want to miss this!

Ski Vice President’s Day Weekend!

Presidents’ Weekend was so successful, we thought we would extend it and do it again – so we’re having Vice Presidents’ Weekend.  After all, Elbridge Gerry, Hannibal Hamlin, Charles Fairbanks, and Schuyler Colfax, Vice Presidents all, were important too!  The snow is good, the temperatures are dropping, and there is more snow predicted for later this week, so February 28 – March 2, are officially Vice Presidents’ Weekend at The Ski Renter!   Read more

Ski President’s Day Weekend!

It looks like your Snow Dancing has begun to pay off! We’ve had two small snowfalls this past week totaling 6-8” for the higher resorts, and now the predictions are for one to three feet of new snow between now and Saturday. Read more

MLK Weekend: 10% OFF now through the 20th

Martin Luther King Weekend (MLK) is rapidly approaching (January 18, 19 and 20th). The snow has been a little weak the last couple of weeks, but some resorts are doing better than others. Heavenly Valley is reporting a 31” to 39” base, probably the best we have found, with 4” to 6” from this last snowfall this past weekend. Boreal reports a 30” to 34” base. Diamond Peak 20” to 30”. Sugar Bowl 16” to 30”. Soda Springs 24”. Northstar and Squaw Valley, both 18” to 22”. Other resorts are looking similar. We found some quotable quotes from recent skiers online: “Finally some fresh snow. Wasn’t a lot maybe 3-5 inches, but got some fresh turns finally.” Another one, this one from Alpine: “Not many people. Short-to-no line. Fresh new snow… great day for snowboarding and skiing.” And another: “Fresh powder snow and not too many people.” That was this last weekend, of course. Who knows what the weather will be like next weekend (certainly not the weatherman), but there is snow, and most likely Spring Skiing conditions, so dig out your favorite Aloha shirt and lather on the sun screen! What the heck; if we are having Spring in January, maybe we will have Winter in February! Kind of a repeat of last year… maybe. And just to add to the fun, we will reduce our pricing by 10% all this week, through the 20th, in honor of the Reverend King. It’s the least we can do!

See you soon, and as always, Think Snow!

Happy New Year!

All resorts are open, with snow depths anywhere from 1’ to 3’, with approximately 25% of all runs open in most resorts, and an 80% chance of snow again tomorrow, so keep your fingers crossed!

Thanks to all our customers who came by for our first annual Season Grand Opening! It was a great success, attended by almost 100 people. The hors d’oeuvres and wine were great, everyone enjoyed seeing our new equipment, and we received 87 presents for Toys for Tots, so thank you, all of you who contributed. This will definitely make Christmas a little merrier for some needy children who otherwise might not get much.

Congratulations, also, to our raffle winners. Charles S., Campbell M., Alex V., Dalal H. and John L. each won a free weekend rental ski package. Congratulations to each of you!

Just to keep the excitement going, we have decided to continue to raffle one weekend ski package daily from now until Christmas. Just come into the shop, “like” us on Facebook, and we will enter your name in our drawing. If you win, you get one free weekend ski package anytime this ski season. It’s that simple!

It’s getting close to Christmas, so for all of you going to the mountains, drive carefully and ski safely. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for you and yours!
