Big News from The Ski Renter!

UPDATE: Sale has ended, but we’re open for rentals starting November 15!

Fall is here—what better time to bring your skis and snowboards in to get them ready for the upcoming season? We will be reopening on November 15th with COVID-safe protocols, just before slopes start opening on the 20th.

Until we reopen, we are taking equipment by appointment to tune up and wax your gear so you’ll be ready to hit the slopes right when they open. Our low prices haven’t changed from last year, so email us at tsr@jaimem28.sg-host.com to make an appointment.

Our current equipment sale is continuing until our reopening! Do you need to replace your ski jacket? Have your kids outgrown their ski pants? We have used men’s, women’s and kid’s ski jackets and ski pants from our rental inventory for sale, along with used and new black fleece vests. We also have used snowboard boots in sizes 6, 7, and 13 plus some used after ski boots in a variety of sizes. We also have a Deuter baby backpack just waiting for the right family! Deuter is one of the best brands we’ve found!

Are you looking to buy camping equipment? We have used 3-person, 5-person and 8-person tents like the Mountainsmith Conifer, Alpinizmo Kansas 3, and some others from Big Agnes. We also have two-burner camp stoves and lanterns from Coleman available.

To make an appointment with us before our reopening, email us at tsr@jaimem28.sg-host.com to make an appointment. Bring your skis or snowboards in, and to check out the clearance items we have for sale!

An Update from The Ski Renter

A snowy mountain on a cloudy day, with fall foliage in the foreground.

We are so fortunate to be here after Covid-19 has shuttered so many small businesses. We’re making lemonade out of the lemons we’ve been handed, and are excited to introduce a new opportunity to our customers!

Starting next Monday, we are available for you to shop by appointment only. Are you looking to get outdoors but stay local? We have some used camping equipment for sale, including tents, two burner stoves, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads.

We’re expecting an extraordinary ski season this year. Are you ready? If not, we have used ski pants, jackets, snowboard boots, ski poles, and a limited number of skis available for purchase.

We’re always happy to see people getting out into nature, and we love helping you to gear up! If you’d like to make an appointment to see what we have for sale, please email us at tsr@jaimem28.sg-host.com. In the mean time, don’t forget to think snow!

Summer Rentals and Gear for Sale!

The Ski Renter Is Renting Limited Camping Equipment and Selling Used Camping Gear

LIMITED RENTALS: While we chose not to open for camping equipment rentals this summer, by request, we have been doing limited rentals by appointment only, renting 2-burner stoves, lanterns and bear canisters. The demand for Bear Canisters has been amazing. Apparently, there’s a shortage. Who knew!

USED CAMPING GEAR SALE: We are also selling used sleeping bags, sleeping pads, 3-person tents and 5-person tents. And we have a lot of retail items for sale, too!

Since we are not open for regular hours this summer, please email us at tsr@jaimem28.sg-host.com to make a reservation or to arrange to look at the equipment we are selling and we will get back to you within an hour or two at the most to arrange a pickup day and time. Please make sure you are wearing your mask when entering the shop. Our staff will also be wearing masks and will be following all protocols for our customers’ safety and their own safety.

Remember – enjoy the great outdoors, but enjoy it safely.

Spring Skiing and a Sale!

The Ski Renters’ End of Season Sale is scheduled for Saturday, May 4th

Apparently the groundhog was right: he came out of his den and saw his shadow, and now we are enjoying at least six more weeks of winter. This is a tradition that began in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania in 1887. As the story goes, each year, when the groundhog (known as Punxsutawney Phil), comes out of his den on Groundhog Day, February 2, if he sees his shadow he goes back into his den and we have six more weeks of winter. He must have seen his shadow and then some this year, as we have had more than 337 inches of snowfall since Groundhog Day, including eleven more inches in just the past three days! Spring skiing is about as good as it gets!

In spite of the great snow, most of the resorts are still planning on closing mid-April, with the exceptions of Squaw Valley and Mammoth Mountain. Accordingly, we are planning our End of Season Sale for May 4th, so mark your calendar. Skis, snowboards, boots, jackets, pants, and poles go on sale. This is a great opportunity to pick up some good used equipment at great prices. Like always, we will have free hot dogs and soft drinks to help you keep your energy up while you shop!

We’ll see you then—and in the mean time, think snow (because you can never have too much)!

Don’t Miss Our Sale! September 29th–October 7th

Help us clear out our summer stock as we get ready for the upcoming winter season. We are discounting the last of last season’s roof racks for skis and snowboards. Lots of accessories are also on sale, as well as some summer t-shirts and winter jackets.

This weekend’s forecast: snow and a sale

Ah, winter! It just keeps going. And the snow keeps blowing.

This year, the season started off slow, but we are now having a “Miracle March.” 85 inches at the base of Squaw, 148 inches on top, and with more on the way! This latest storm only dropped a few inches, but we should see considerably more tonight and tomorrow. Then clearing Friday, light snows Saturday, and clear again on Sunday. Temperatures are dropping, so conditions should be good.

Need gear? Come see us at The Ski Renter in Cupertino. We rent: skis, snowboards, snowshoes, cross country skis, helmets and clothes. If you need accessories, we are having a sale on all of our retail, with up to 40% off on some items: helmets, gloves, goggles, socks, jackets, etc. And yes, we also carry camping gear! Keep thinking snow, and come see us this weekend!
