The Ski Renter Supports Scouts
The Denise Family has a long association with Scouting. George Denise II, the current owner’s father, was proud to have been born in 1910, the same year that The Boy Scouts of America was founded. He was a Boy Scout in the 1920s, and was later a Cub Master and an Assistant Scoutmaster for Pack and Troop 22 in Guerneville, California. George III (now Senior), owner of The Ski Renter, along with wife Kathy, was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, completed all of the requirements for Eagle Scout, and later became Cub Master and Scoutmaster for Pack and Troop 325 in the Westgate Area of San Jose. George IV, Chris and Michael, George and Kathy’s three sons, are all Eagle Scouts, Silver Award recipients in Venturing, a coed program for older youth, and Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow, an honor service organization within Scouting. Senior and wife Kathy are also Vigil Honor, making theirs one of the few families in the nation in which the entire family has been so honored.
There are over 2 ½ million Scouts in the U.S.; there have been over 80 million since its founding. Scouting teaches young people to Be Prepared and to Do Your Best, and it endeavors to instill responsible citizenship through a program based in the outdoors with emphasis on conservation and environmental preservation.
We think it is a good program, one worth supporting. Accordingly, we offer discounts to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and similar youth organizations to encourage them in their programs. Many of our staff members are also Scouts, several of them Eagle Scouts. Scouting teaches “service leadership”. That’s the way we try to manage our business!
